Fortinet's Accelerated Interface Modules increase the flexibility of FortiGate® and FortiCarrier™ platforms with 10-Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interface Options. They also provide additional security performance for the platforms, adding wire-speed firewall and near wire-speed IPSec VPN security for traffic traversing the module's ports.
Fortinet accelerated interface modules include embedded FortiASICâ„¢ processors to accelerate the performance of your FortiGate system. By performing firewall and IPSec VPN security functions at the interface level, modules offload processing overhead from the host system, freeing system resources for other functions. They are available in both single-width and double-width Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) standards, as well as the Fortinet Mezzanine Card (FMC) form factor for FortiGate-3950 series appliances, and the Rear Transition Module (RTM) form factor for FortiGate-5000 series chassis.
With such a large-scale project, we had stringent technical requirements and the FortiGate security systems demonstrated the resilience, scalability and capacity needed to cope with the enormity of our project. Fortinet's integrated security platform and per-system licensing also allowed us to take a centralized security and management approach and thus avoid the management and licensing challenges associated with the implementation of servers and separate point solutions.
